One man is dead and three others are wounded following a shooting in broad daylight in Etobicoke on Sunday afternoon.

Police responded to reports around 2:20 p.m. that a man got out of a car in the Willowridge Rd. and Eglinton Ave. W. area and opened fire into another vehicle, striking several people.

Officers on the scene initially said there were five victims, one with vital signs absent and the others seriously injured. One victim — a 28-year-old man, according to police — has subsequently died.

Another man is in life-threatening condition, while the remaining two have injuries that are serious but not life-threatening.

Police said bullet holes were found in nearby buildings.

All of the victims were sent to hospital and the suspects were believed to have fled in a black car, police said.

Police said the homicide team has now taken over the investigation.

Meanwhile, Const. David Hopkinson said an incident in the Queen St. W. and Dufferin St. area early Sunday morning is being treated as “suspicious.”
